Belize
The small Central American country of Belize has more in common with its Caribbean relatives than its Central American neighbours. This country is free of political struggle and has a peaceful and laid back history. Most of it is also fluent in English, making it a good location for a holiday. Belize is generally uncommercialised and therefore mostly unspoilt, making it an ideal location for a relaxing break. There are many Mayan attractions in Belize, such as the city of Lamanai, meaning submerged crocodile. Lamanai was inhabited by Mayans from as far back as 1500BC and much of the city’s infrastructure still remains. Another attraction of Belize is The Cayes. This 290km long barrier reef is the longest in the Western Hemisphere, and a diver’s dream. The best time to visit Belize would be any time between November and May, known as the dry season in the area. Avoid July to November as this is hurricane season. Visa required - No
